Cathy R. Kreis

Introduced to AFCI, Inc. in 1991, Cathy began going on short-term missions in 1993 from her home church in Hawaii, helping at pastors’ conferences in the South Pacific. Even while her earlier career in the corporate world centered on administration and human resources, God employed her passions for creative writing and for other peoples and cultures. In 1997, Cathy was called to full time ministry in Atlanta, GA, serving five years as Coordinator at the International Service Center in Marietta. Responsible for supervising daily operations, she had the privilege of communicating with the many USA donors, and with ministry staff in 30 nations.

In 2002 Cathy was called from Marietta to work in Pigeon Forge, TN, serving three years as ministry assistant to Rev. Jeff Brooks at First Baptist Church. Then the vision of a ministry God first revealed to her in 1998 was renewed. The vision had been “for a time in the future” (Habakkuk 2:2-3). So in 2005 when He said, “Go,” Cathy moved to Kingman, AZ, to establish her base as an AFCI-USA ministry associate in the southwest. Gifted in different ways than her AFCI brothers, the Lord has used her to encourage and support ministers and evangelists, to bring awareness of ministry needs wherever she goes, and to edify and challenge the local churches. You may also link with Cathy through her affiliation with the ministry of A Certain Sound (Knoxville, TN) at its website: www.acertainsound.org.

  • CREATIVE WRITING/EDITING: Sandwiched between ministry trips, Cathy managed (by the grace of God) to complete her first non-fiction project, BEYOND ALL REASON: God at Work in the South Pacific, released by WinePress Publishing in 2010.
Cathy also served as USA agent/editor for Dr. Narayan Nair (AFC Fiji) in his WinePress book project, LORD! I Have Not Loved Thee As I Ought, released at the end of 2011.
Cathy has written website articles, teaching modules, and a Bible study booklet, Forgiveness. Several projects are in process including a pictorial history “storybook” for her family.
Honored to be asked for ongoing editing assistance by co-ministers overseas, Cathy works on of their articles and booklets some which are translated and published in their own nations and indigenous languages.

  • NATIVE AMERICAN: Cathy has participated since 2002 in Navajo pastors’ training workshops and Navajo women’s conferences affiliated with Four Corners Native American Ministry. The Lord also used Cathy to network FCNAM with churches and individuals in Wyoming, Tennessee, and Arizona. Teams from these churches presented Vacation Bible Schools, completed construction projects, and participated in a Cooking Ministry for the training seminars and conferences. Developments over the past few years among the 25 affiliated churches of FCNAM point to change, and the potential for new ministry alongside of her Navajo brothers and sisters in 2012. Look for further news in this area.

  • PACIFIC ISLANDS: AFC Fiji/South Pacific (Narayan Nair) leads a dynamic ministry that has been making a significant impact on that region of the world for the past 40+ years. Graduates of AFC’s College of Theology & Evangelism Fiji (formerly Fiji Bible College) carry their training into many island nations. From her first visit to Fiji, Cathy became a part of the South Pacific scene, with deep and lasting relationships (www.afcfiji.com) (www.beyondallreason.afcfiji.com). The book, BEYOND ALL REASON, provides a colorful, telescopic view of God’s amazing work in that region of the world. It was written to benefit and support the ministry; net profits are committed to AFC-Fiji/South Pacific. Paperback or e-book editions may be purchased online (www.winepressbooks.com). There is limitless opportunity to join the Lord at work in the region, as well as to encourage His workers in that field. Contact Cathy if you wish to discuss the possibilities.

  • MOBILE MINISTRY: Oswald Chambers wrote, “God engineers everything; and wherever He places us, our one supreme goal should be to pour out our lives in wholehearted devotion to Him in that work.” Cathy’s mobile ministry increased dramatically in 2009, followed by many miles and months on the road in 2010, and several months in the Pacific islands in 2011. God has the plan ready for 2012—it’s bound to be an adventure!.

A northern California native (Alameda), Cathy was active as a youth in her church. But, after graduating UCLA with a B.A. in Geography/History, she found herself ‘way off track in matters of the spirit. Tragedy, heartbreak, and a mid-life move to the island of Kaua’i (Hawaii), brought her to her knees. Through Jesus she discovered truth and wise guidance for her life. While studying the Bible, God put a new spirit in her heart and placed her feet on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. With a life re-dedicated to following and serving Him (Galatians 2:20)… there is “No Turning Back.”

Cathy’s sons, Charles and Terrence were born in Dinuba, a small agricultural community in California’s central valley. Although she suffered a failed marriage, and Terry went Home to be with the Lord as an infant, Cathy enjoys the times she shares with Charles (Chip) and his teenage children, Robert and Brianna, as well as her two older brothers.
