Cathy R. Kreis

Introduced to AFCI, Inc. in 1991, Cathy began short-term mission assignments in 1993 from her home church in Hawaii, helping at pastors’ conferences in the South Pacific. In 1997, she entered full time ministry to serve as “Coordinator” for five years at the International Service Center in Atlanta, GA, responsible for daily administrative operations. Cathy also enjoyed the ongoing communications with the many USA donors as well as ministry staff in thirty nations.

From 2002-2005, Cathy was in Tennessee assisting Rev. Jeff Brooks at First Baptist Church Pigeon Forge with administrative tasks. In 2005, the Lord sent her west to set up a base in Arizona as a ministry associate. In the southwest she has worked primarily with churches in the Navajo Nation. Cathy also returned to short-term missions in the South Pacific. Gifted in different ways than her AFCI brothers, the Lord has used Cathy to encourage and support ministers and evangelists, to bring awareness of needs to churches and friends, or to encourage people wherever the Lord directs—whether in the USA or overseas. Cathy is also a ministry associate with A Certain Sound (Knoxville, TN):

  • CREATIVE WRITING/EDITING: Between ministry trips and part-time employment, the second edition of Cathy’s documentary project, BEYOND ALL REASON: God at Work in the South Pacific, was published by Redemption Press, September 2014 At the same time she was USA agent/editor for the second edition of Dr. Narayan Nair’s (AFC South Pacific) book, with its new title, CONFESSIONS OF A PASTOR, a meditation on a hymn that will challenge believers for years to come. Cathy has written website articles, biblical teaching modules, and a Bible study booklet, Forgiveness. Several other book projects are in process. Privileged to be asked by co-ministers, Cathy edits articles and booklets, in the USA and elsewhere, some of which are then translated and published in the indigenous language, and posted on their websites.
  • NATIVE AMERICAN: In partnership with Four Corners Native American Ministry and AFCI-USA (2002-2009), Cathy actively participated in a series of pastors’ training workshops in the Navajo Nation. She also served at Navajo women’s conferences, as speaker and facilitator; the last was in 2012. God also used Cathy to network FCNAM with churches and individuals in Wyoming, Tennessee, Hawaii, and Arizona. Teams or individuals from those churches presented summer Vacation Bible Schools, completed construction projects, and participated in “Cook Team” ministries, year’ round. While changes in 2009 within the local organization ultimately brought that partnership to a close, Cathy maintains close relationships on the rez and continues to respond to invitations there
  • PACIFIC ISLANDS: AFC Fiji/South Pacific (Narayan Nair, director) has led a dynamic ministry for over forty years that has been making a significant impact on that region of the world. Graduates of the College of Theology & Evangelism Fiji (formerly Fiji Bible College) carry their Bible-based training into many island nations, as well as the USA, Australia and New Zealand. From her first visit to Fiji in 1993, Cathy established deep and lasting relationships that have carried on, the last visit was in November 2014 ( Her book, BEYOND ALL REASON, provides a colorful, telescopic view of God’s amazing work there.
  • MOBILE MINISTRY: Oswald Chambers wrote, “God engineers everything; and wherever He places us, our one supreme goal should be to pour out our lives in wholehearted devotion to Him in that work.

Cathy’s mobile ministry has expanded over the years. In the west, countless miles have been traversed in her vehicle to carry the love of Jesus. Recent overseas ministry has included India and Switzerland (2013), Israel and Fiji (2014), and Italy (2015). As long as doors continue to open, Cathy willing goes to offer encouragement and challenge those willing to listen, to seek the LORD. She carries with her living proof of Jesus’ power and love.

A northern California native, Cathy was active as a youth in her church but, after graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in Geography/History, she found herself ‘way off track in matters of the spirit. Spiritual rebellion (sin), tragedy, heartbreak, led to a mid-life move to the island of Kaua’i. Some of these circumstances God used to ultimately draw her to Him. Through the saving grace of Jesus Christ, she discovered absolute truth and wise guidance for life eternal—the kinds of things she is always ready to share with others, if they are willing. Cathy’s son and grandchildren are California residents and their times together are precious to her.

Thank you so much for supporting the ministers and ministries of Ambassdors For Christ. We cannot do the Lord’s work without you! As you may know, there are administrative costs to run a ministry. We do our best to keep these costs to a bare minimum so that we steward our funds well toward hands-on mission work. A part of our administration costs that we have no control over are our credit card processing fees. This is where you can help us in a big way and get more money into ministry. Did you know there are significant processing fees that can run from 4-7% of your donation depending on the card you use? If we process $500,000 in donations over the year in credit cards, that is up to $35,000 in processing fees that could go to ministry! We would love to redirect that money to the ministry you support. Would you please consider making your donation with a check mailed to us or set up donations via your checking account after clicking the donation button below? We understand if there is a reason you choose to donate with a credit card, and we appreciate any donation we get for ministry.
